Exam

Requirements to take the exam

  • Have at least 8000 OJT and 576 RT hours for the program. 
  • Paid off any tuition owed throughout the program.
  • Your employer recommends you to test.
  • Have properly and accurately filled out the MPRs  in your file.
  • Have passed all the classes required for the program.
  • Have obtained between 50% and 300% in each work category for MPRs or fulfilled committee requirements to show competence in the category in question.

How to take your test?

  1. Turn in your last MPR showing completion requirement and inform Randall Tyle about your eligibility to test. 
  2. The committee will make a decision whether you can go to take your exam.
  3. IF the committee declines the request,  then the apprentices must meet the requirements set forth by the committee in order to be able to test.
  4. IF the committee approves the request, then the apprentice can start filling out the necessary paperwork to take the test.
  5. Go to the BCD- Licensing info for Inside Electricians website and thoroughly read to make sure you understand the test and the materials needed to bring with you to the test.  Download the Electrical License Application or fill it out online. 
  6. There are several links and instructions for how to complete an application and submit the testing fee.
  7. You will need to get a passport photo taken.  Here are the requirements for a passport photo. This can be done at most photo centers including Walgreens, Walmart, etc..

  10. Make sure you prepare and are familiar with the books needed for the test.
  11. After taking the test you will be able to check for your license. Remember it takes some time before tests are graded and added to the system.
